Dihydrostreptomycin sesquisulfate is used in veterinary medicine to treat bovine infection and also as an effective antibiotic to control pests found in crops.. Other studies have also used it as an electrode for a cochlear amplifier in the hair-cell bundle of lizards.

As a derivative of Streptomycin (S687500) with antimicrobial activity, Dihydrostreptomycin sulfate is used in veterinary medicine to treat bovine infection and also as an effective antibiotic to control pests found in crops.

It is suitable for the treatment of infections caused by various gram-negative bacteria, such as tuberculosis, pertussis,plague, tularsis and pneumonia.
