Nystatin is a polyene antifungicin with conjugated polyene macrolide structure, which can inhibit the activity of fungi but has no inhibitory effect on bacteria. Nystatin binds to sterols on fungal cell membranes and causes changes in cell membrane permeability, resulting in leakage of important cell contents and plays an antifungal role.
