Stearyl alcohol, also known as octadecyl alcohol, is a long-chain high-carbon fatty alcohol. White flake or grain. Melting point 59.4-59.8ºC (freezing point 57.95ºC), boiling point 210ºC (2kPa) 170-171ºC (0.266kPa), relative density 0.8124 (59/4ºC) Chemicalbook, refractive index 1.4346 (45ºC). Soluble in alcohol, benzene, insoluble in water. It is slightly toxic, slightly irritating to the eyes and skin, flammable, its dust can form an explosive mixture with the air, and is mainly used as organic synthetic raw materials.
