Features:
01.Marbofloxacin is a bactericide whose bactericidal activity is concentration-dependent. Sensitive bacteria can die 20 to 30rain after exposure. Like other fluoroquinolones, marbofloxacin showed significant post-antibiotic effects against both gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria, and was active against both the quiescent and growing phases of bacterial replication.
02.Its mechanism of action is not fully understood, but it is thought to work by inhibiting bacterial DNA cyclotase (type II topoisomerase), preventing DNA superhelix formation and DNA synthesis. Mapofloxacin and other veterinary commercial fluoroquinolones have similar antibacterial activity profiles.
03.These drugs have very good activity against most species and strains of Gram-negative bacilli and cocci, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella, Escherichia coli, Enterococcus, Campylobacter, Shigella, Salmonella, Aeromonas, Haemophilus, Proteus, Yersinia, Vibrio, etc. Other commonly sensitive species include Brucella, Chlamydia trachomatis, Staphylococcus (including penicillinase and methicillin-resistant bacteria), chlamydia, and Mycobacterium.
04.Fluoroquinolones have mixed activity against most streptococci and are generally not recommended for the treatment of this genus of infections. These drugs are weakly active against most anaerobic bacteria and are not effective in treating anaerobic infections. Drug-resistant strains have emerged as a result of variation, notably Pseudomonas, Kleiniella pneumoniae, Acinetobacter and Enterococcus, but plasmid-mediated resistance is generally thought to be rare.
